A Positive Impact for Your Property

SMCo Thrift partners with nonprofit organizations across the country to launch and run upscale thrift stores. If you represent a property, here is what a SMCo Thrift partner store brings as a tenant, what we look for in a space, and how to reach us.

About SMCo Thrift Partners

SMCo Thrift helps nonprofit organizations open and operate thrift stores that fund their missions. Our partners are established, well-known organizations in their communities, and the stores they run are built on proven systems for donations, processing, merchandising, and retail operations.

  • Highly reputable, mission-driven organizations
  • Unique and impactful missions rooted in their communities
  • Significant community presence and name recognition
  • Substantial, stable annual revenue

What a Partner Store Means for Your Property

A SMCo Thrift partner store is more than a tenant filling a vacancy. It is a destination retailer with a steady customer base and a mission the community already supports.

  • Increased property value
  • Increased traffic to nearby businesses
  • Positive impact on the property's reputation
  • Measurable community impact

High Standards

Our partner stores are meticulously curated to resemble upscale retail environments, akin to popular chains like TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Bright, organized sales floors and well-kept exteriors are the standard, not the exception.

This approach not only attracts shoppers but also contributes to the aesthetic and commercial value of the properties we occupy.

A Strong Community Partner

SMCo Thrift's partners are highly respected and well-recognized organizations in their regions. Every dollar a partner store earns goes back into local programs that people in the community know and care about.

Leasing to one of our partners demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility and support for local initiatives.

Increased Foot Traffic

Our partner thrift stores are popular destinations for treasure hunters, bargain shoppers, and environmentally conscious consumers. Inventory turns over constantly, which brings shoppers back week after week.

Their presence attracts a steady stream of diverse customers, benefiting surrounding businesses as well.

A Reliable Tenant

With a proven track record of success and stable financial backing, SMCo Thrift's partners are reliable tenants who ensure on-time rent payments and responsible property management.

We care for all areas of the buildings we occupy as if they were our own, taking pride in the cleanliness and maintenance inside and outside of our stores.

A Positive Brand Image

SMCo Thrift's partners are synonymous with good work and community support. Choosing a SMCo Thrift partner store as a tenant reflects positively on your property and enhances the reputation of the areas in which we operate.

What We Look For in a Space

In addition to the retail floor where we sell products, every partner store needs a back-room processing area where donations are received, sorted, and priced before they reach the sales floor.

We typically require 15,000 to 30,000 square feet to accommodate the full operation. Our existing partner stores range from 5,000 to 25,000 square feet of retail space.

  • Open retail sales floor
  • Back-room processing area for receiving, sorting, and pricing donations
  • Total footprint of roughly 15,000 to 30,000 sq ft

Where Our Partners Operate

We currently partner with 30+ thrift stores with over 60 locations throughout the U.S., including Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan, South Carolina, and more.
